Partitions are the logical divisions of hard disk drive. These partitions can be of two types based upon the version of windows operating systems. The FAT File Allocation Table type of partition is seen among the older versions of windows operating systems. FAT 32 is an improved version of the original FAT type since it uses more number of bits to identify the clusters of data on the hard disk. There are many cases of losing files that have been stored in a partition of FAT type. We can easily Recover files from FAT partition if they have not been over written by some other new files. To enable this kind of restoration activity, we have much recovery software that is being developed for these purposes. This software can be either downloaded from the company’s web site or could be bought from a software market. The first thing we need to make sure before using these software is to check whether the recovery software we use supports the FAT type of partition. If so, the software is then installed on a healthy machine and not on the drive from where we are going to retrieve the files. After the installation of the application on the other machine, we need to connect the FAT drive of the infected machine to our health machine and run the software.
