Maritime Museum situated in the Jakarta region of Java Island is one of the Indonesia Java International Destination. Maritime Museum is located near the area of Pasar Ikan of North Jakarta. Maritime Museum, an Indonesia Java International Destination was once used as store house for storing the various kinds of spices. In the year of 1976, the ownership of this structure was transferred to the municipal government and then the work to convert this as a museum started. In the year of 1997 on 7th of July month, the maritime museum was officially opened. The main aim of the museum is to protect, maintain, expose and conserve the maritime and fishery tradition of Indonesia. A number of types of traditional boats of Indonesia which have specific equipment, shape and decorative trimmings are present in the museum that reflects the heritage. Apart from these things, the museum also consists of miniature version of the modern ships for display. Other things that are kept in the museum are a model of the light house, antique canons, anchor, navigational tools and many more of such items. Since 60% of Indonesia consists of water, there are various kinds of maritime culture practiced in Indonesia.
