In certain places where hurricanes, earthquakes and fires have struck, the residents were caught napping in the sense that not many really felt that they needed to pay premiums to get help in times of disasters. They just assumed that the
Government would help them out. When their home insurance were destroyed and lives wrecked, they turned to the Government for help, but were shocked when they realized that it came with a string attached. And that was the loan they had to repay, when they had been expecting money to rebuild their homes. True, they were given lowered interest rates, but they still had to slog to rebuild their homes, what with mortgages pending and now loan repayments that added to their misery
Those who were wiser and had Home Insurance policies had an easier time as a lot of cash came their way, which helped them rebuild their homes faster with less tension. This only goes to prove that people have to act wisely and prepare a support system to help them through disasters and severe problems, diseases, accidents and other unforeseen contingencies. Leaving things too late serve no practical purpose. Everyone should learn a lesson from what happened and make sure they don’t land into a similar mess.
